The Startup Toronto Summer Bash earlier this month brought out over 400 people to Marche Brookfield Place in downtown Toronto. Growing the Startup Toronto community to over 2500 members since its launch last March and launching the brand new Startup Talk podcast were reason enough to celebrate with food, prizes and of course, startup talk.
Startup Toronto is a grass roots entrepreneur-led community of Startup Canada. They connect members to the startup ecosystem in Toronto, foster a supportive home for entrepreneurs and provide programs and tools to help entrepreneurs accelerate their business growth.
Founders and innovators mingled alongside funders and collaborators on Marche’s outdoor patio. Attendees looking to start or ramp up new ventures likely left Summer Bash bursting with new relationships, contacts and ideas.
In addition to networking opportunities, Startup Toronto founder, Craig Major, made sure there were lots of prizes to be won. I tweeted and Instagrammed using the tag #StartupTO for a chance to win a ticket to the Discover Your Own Brand Conference and 1 month of co-working space from Welcome Spaces. But no luck. Maybe next year.
But the warm evening of conversation was truly insightful. I met a bunch of friendly folks and enjoyed listening to guest speakers from Google Canada and IBM among others.
Startup Toronto is the #1 startup community in Toronto. If you are an entrepreneur or even just aspiring to get your own business off the ground, this is a worthwhile community to tap in to. The Startup Toronto website is a great place to learn more about future upcoming events and opportunities for business development.
The Startup Talk podcast series is available on iTunes or subscribe on the Google Play Store.
